Mariama Akano was born and raised in Detroit Michigan and currently resides in Farmington Michigan. At a young age, she knew that she had a love for helping others achieve their goals and a passion for education and creativity. This passion led to her first goal of becoming an educator.

Mariama attended Marygrove College in Detroit Michigan where she majored in Dance Education with an English Minor for Teaching. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree she continued her studies at Marygrove College where she later received her Master’s In The Art of Teaching Degree. She taught both Dance and English at a performing arts school in Inkster Michigan for four years. Upon receiving the news that the school would be closing, she decided to take a leap of faith and start her own business. She operated a dance and fitness studio for women several years in Redford Michigan and later, opened an events venue in Farmington Michigan. As a small business owner for almost 9 years, she has developed strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, marketing skills, event planning skills, and knows the importance of paying close attention to details.

Within her business endeavors she has had the opportunity to meet a variety of business owners and entrepreneurs and these connections led to her meeting and working closely with local real estate investors in the Detroit housing market. This exposure immediately sparked her interest in becoming a licensed real estate agent with one of her major goals being to help people transition from tenants to home owners.

In her free time, Mariama enjoys spending quality time with her daughter, event planning and traveling.
